When the first Africans entered Boston in the year 1638 it was a turning point in Boston’s evolution that continues to this day. We credit them with the founding of the first Black Boston community. Imagine how the ancestors spawned blacks in the African and African-American Boston population today. The trend continues. In the past 10 years, Africans have been a large source of new immigrants to Massachusetts state.
This “1638” thumbnail design is an image from the Black Boston souvenir catalog . Integrated into the design is a recent photograph of The Old State House in downtown Boston.
