This year’s Black New England Conference conference is all about the arts and so are the pre-conference tours!


Join us on these exciting urban hikes:

The World Through African-American Eyeswith lead artist, L’Merchie Frazier
For this tour, participants will visit the African American Master Artists in Residency Program (AAMARP) studios and see the work of fourteen artists in residence. Participants will also get to meet some of the artists.  

Noon. Meet at 76 Atherton Street in Jamaica Plain. Cost $15 ppBoston Jazz History Walking Tour, with tour guide, Laurel Schlegel


Join this tour to stand at the former site of Boston’s once-prominent jazz clubs and learn how they contributed to Boston’s rich but little-remembered jazz history. The tour was created by public history graduate students at Northeastern University using nontraditional skills and methods. The tour ends at Wally’s Cafe, the only remaining testament to Boston’s lively jazz history, for a tour and food.

4:00 PM, Meet at the Fenway Center at Northeastern University,
