State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry will deliver the keynote address, reiterating the impact UCMS has had on the local community. This event will honor UCMS’ work in Upham’s Corner since 1995. The celebration will highlight area businesses, the revitalization of the district and arts-focused achievements.

Through leveraging local arts and cultural assets to support neighborhood businesses and several collaborative processes over the past few year that are now beginning their construction stage, this year’s fundraiser will highlight area businesses and the progress of the revitalization of the district through small business development, arts-focused achievements and beautification initiatives.

About Upham’s Corner Main Streets

Upham’s Corner Main Street, Inc. (UCMS) is a community-led business district planning agency that works to build a vibrant commercial district in Upham’s Corner, a bustling town center in Dorchester, MA., anchored by the historic Strand Theater. UCMS was first created in 1995 when a group of concerned neighborhood residents, merchants and civic leaders banded together with a goal of advocating, planning, and managing the revitalization of the Upham’s Corner business district. The goal: to create more permanent jobs, an optimal mix of retail businesses, and shopping opportunities that fit the needs of residents. The organization operates under the National Trust for Historic Preservation Main Street approach to revitalize Upham’s Corner through Design, Economic Restructuring, Organization and Promotion. UCMS is also a partner of the Fairmount Cultural Corridor initiative to spur cultural economic development in Upham’s Corner in collaboration with local partners.
