Numerous organizations that focus on uplifting the Black community were invited to participate in discussions about the state of Black Boston and needed to be done to make Boston a better place for Black people.
Conversations centered on whether an agenda was necessary for Black Boston’s current issues and, if deemed necessary, to understand what steps were necessary to create an agenda that could serve the needs of the people being the most affected.
The Preamble is meant to serve as an antecedent to an agenda by encapsulating the work of the BBAP thus far.
The purpose of the Preamble is to detail the project’s inception, highlight its underlying philosophy, share what has been learned from engagement with the community, and embody a case for why Boston needs a Black agenda.
The vision of the Preamble is to rouse communal interest in a Black agenda and for the greater participation in its molding and upliftment for future generations.
