My name is Winston Pierre. I am a father, a husband, and a City Planner.
I decided to run for Boston City Council because too many of our neighborhoods — Mattapan, Hyde Park, Readville, and Roslindale — have been left behind. Families are working hard every day, yet many are being priced out of the very communities they helped build.
Our small businesses, the ones that have kept our neighborhoods alive for generations, are fighting to stay open. Meanwhile, new developments rise with little connection to the people or the culture that make this district home.

Boston has a budget of 4.6 billion dollars, yet District 5 is set to receive only 1.5 million dollars – the lowest of any district in the city. That means our communities get pennies while others get progress.
But it does not have to be this way. We have paid our dues. We have built these neighborhoods, raised our children here, and strengthened Boston with our faith, hard work, and unity. We deserve our fair share of the city’s growth.
This inequality is not just numbers on a page. You can see it every day in our community — in Hyde Park, where we face the highest infant mortality rate; in our underfunded schools; in the unsafe streets where we recently lost two young Black boys on Wood Avenue and Washington Street; and in major planning projects along Cummins Highway, in Roslindale Square and Streets, and beyond, that move forward without truly listening to the people most affected.
We can change this — not by waiting for others to act, but by standing together and demanding fairness, accountability, and investment in our future.
