JOIN COMMON THREAD DUDLEY SQUARE AT HIBERNIAN HALL FOR DUDLEY SQUARE MEMORY DAY ON SATURDAY, MAY 11, 2013
ROXBURY, MA. On Saturday, May 11, 2013, please join Common Thread Dudley Square and the Dudley Square community for a day of activities at Dudley Square Memory Day. Events include a history scavenger hunt, memory and photograph archiving, and a celebration of Dudley Square’s revitalization. All events will be held at Hibernian Hall (184 Dudley Street) in Roxbury from 11am-4pm.
Nicole Flynt Thomas, Community Connector of Common Thread Dudley Square Coalition says, “Dudley Square’s history is cross-generational. The residents of our community show great pride in our history and Dudley Square Memory Day is all about uncovering the historic treasures of our neighborhood.”
From 12pm-2pm, the community can take part in Discover Roxbury’s interactive Scavenger Hunt, (check-in begins at 11am in Hibernian Hall). The scavenger hunt is designed for all ages and guaranteed to bring out the kid in everyone. Participants will have a chance to celebrate the diversity of Roxbury’s history, arts and culture, and compete in teams for fun and prizes.
Join us from 11am-3pm in Hibernian Hall for a “Memory Day” with a chance to share your old photos and documents about life in Roxbury. All past and present Roxbury residents are asked to bring photos and other documents to be scanned and archived by UMass Boston and are invited to participate in brief video interviews about the history of Dudley Square.
At 3pm we celebrate the day’s activities with Representative Byron Rushing. Join your friends and neighbors at Hibernian Hall for music, refreshments, and visions for the future of Dudley Square. Byron Rushing will present prizes to the scavenger hunt winners.
